A universally renowned interpreter of baroque, classical and bel canto repertoire, Bass Nahuel Di Pierro is one of the most in demand singers of our generation. Born in Buenos Aires, he studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte at the Teatro Colón. He later joined the Paris Opera Studio and participated in the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival.
In the 2025-26 season, Nahuel returns to Opernhaus Zürich to perform the role of Blansac in Rossini’s La scala di seta with conductor Leonardo Sini. He will also appear at the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Mustafà in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri. Further engagements include Osmin in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Opéra Royal de Versailles. On the concert stage, Nahuel will appear at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Le Concert de la Loge for Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor and will perform Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra.
In baroque, Nahuel has found great success in roles including Seneca in L’incoronazione di Poppea, the Cold Genius in King Arthur, and Créon in Charpentier’s Médée at Opernhaus Zürich. He has also portrayed Plutone in Rossi’s Orfeo at Opéra Royal de Versailles and Ismenor and Teucer in Rameau’s Dardanus at Opéra National de Bordeaux and Opéra Royal de Versailles, as well as Claudio in Handel’s Agrippina at Drottningholm. In 2023, he made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, once again performing as Seneca in L’incoronazione di Poppea.
A distinguished Mozartian, Nahuel began in the role of Masetto in Don Giovanni at Teatro Argentino, followed by performances at the Paris Opera, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Royal Opera House in London, and Palau de Les Arts in Valencia. He later performed both the roles of Leporello at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, Nancy, Luxembourg, and Don Giovanni in Buenos Aires, Tel Aviv, Zürich Opernhaus, and Teatro Comunale Bologna with considerable success.
His other notable Mozart roles include Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte in Dessau, Santiago and Moscow, Achior in La Betulia Liberata in Salzburg and Paris, La Voce in Idomeneo at the Paris Opera and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro in Buenos Aires and the Houston Grand Opera, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte in Buenos Aires, Aix-en-Provence and at the Mostly Mozart and Edinburgh Festivals, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte at Palau de Les Arts Valencia, and Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Opernhaus Zürich and at Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Also a champion of Rossini, Nahuel has excelled in roles such as Le Gouverneur in Le Comte Ory and Lord Sidney in Il Viaggio a Reims at Opernhaus Zürich, Assur in Semiramide in Nancy and at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Selim in Il Turco in Italia in Zürich, Glyndebourne, Angers, Nantes and Luxembourg, Walter and Melchthal in Guillaume Tell at La Scala and Bad Wildbad, Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Capitole de Toulouse and Opéra National de Bordeaux, Mahomet in Le Siège de Corinthe in Athens, and Mustafà in L’Italiana in Algeri at Teatro Colón and in San Sebastián.
Concert highlights of recent seasons include works such as Handel’s Messiah and Paisiello’s Missa Defunctorum in Salzburg, Bach’s St. John Passion in Paris, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater in Chartres, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, C Minor Mass, Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, and Requiem in Versailles, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Teatro San Carlo, Regio di Torino, Valencia and the Wiener Festwochen, Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ in Saint-Denis, Rossini’s Stabat Mater at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Schubert’s Mass in E-flat Major with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Nahuel boasts an extensive discography, which includes recordings of operas such as Les Paladins and Ercole Amante, as well as oratorios including Betulia Liberata and Mozart’s Requiem. In addition to his operatic and oratorio recordings, Di Pierro is actively involved in the folk music of his native Buenos Aires, recently releasing the album Anclao en Paris, dedicated to tango.
