Born in Valencia, Rafael Quirant won the first prize at the Juventudes Musicales de España Singing Competition in 2021 and was part of the Crescendo program 2026 at Teatro Real in Madrid.
Highlights of his 2026/27 season include his debut at Ópera de Tenerife as Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, conducted by Jordi Francés in Marta Pazos' production. He also debuts in the Teatre Principal de Palma as Ruggiero in Vivaldi's Orlando furioso, under the musical direction of Ignacio Prego in Fabio Ceresa's acclaimed production, created for La Fenice in Venice. He further makes his first appearance at ABAO Bilbao Opera as the Musician in Manon Lescaut, conducted by Carlo Montanaro and staged by Emiliano Suárez.
Recent highlights include his debut at Ópera de Lima as Adonis in Tomás de Torrejón y Velasco's La púrpura de la rosa, and a performance of Hasse's oratorio Sanctus Petrus et Sancta Maria Magdalena at the Festival de Peralada. He also appeared in the revival of Terradellas' Giuseppe riconosciuto with Vespres d'Arnadí under Dani Espasa’s music directon, touring to the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Madrid's Auditorio Nacional de Música and Festival de Torroella.
Further recent appearances include the Festival de Pasqua de Cervera with Polifem Consort in a programme devoted to Terradellas, and performances of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with ADDA Simfònica and the Orfeón Donostiarra.
A specialist in the Baroque repertoire, Rafael Quirant is a member of the ensemble Il dolce incontro. His repertoire also extends to bel canto, Spanish song and oratorio. He has collaborated with leading Spanish ensembles including the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and the Valencia Orchestra.
He has attended masterclasses and received advice from renowned artists such as Mariella Devia, Saioa Hernández, Carlos Chausson, Silvia Tro Santafé, Sabina Puértolas, Xavier Sabata, Isabel Rey, Nancy Fabiola Herrera and Aurelio Viribay, among others.
