Biography

The Croatian tenor was awarded 2nd prize at the 41st International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Dortmund in 2023, the Young Musician of the Year Award for 2023 by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, and served as Artist in Residence at the Queen Elizabeth Music Chapel in Belgium. Currently, he is a member of the opera ensemble at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, were recently he performed the roles of Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco, Alfred in Strauss’s operetta Die Fledermaus, Alfredo Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, and the Duke of Mantova in Verdi’s Rigoletto.

Filipović was also awarded the 1st prize at the International Singing Competition Lav Mirski in Osijek and the International Competition Vera Kovač Vitkai in Novi Sad in 2015. He received the Rector’s Award in 2020 for his participation in a Music Academy in Zagreb opera project, performing J. Massenet’s Cendrillon. He was honored with the Ferdo Livadić Award for best artistic personality at the 18th International Competition of Young Musicians Ferdo Livadić in 2021 as part of the Samobor Music Festival, and he also won the 10th Croatian Competition of Young Music Artists Papandopulo.

As part of the Sfumato series of concerts, he collaborated with the Croatian Radiotelevision Choir, performing as a soloist in Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle conducted by Maestro Marc Korovich. He also worked with Maestro Korovich on Rossini’s Stabat Mater. Additionally, he performed at the 73rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival alongside soprano Adela Zaharia with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ivan Repušić. Furthermore, he performed Verdi’s Requiem with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra and Choir under the baton of Maestro Plácido Domingo. He has also collaborated with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, most recently performing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony conducted by Maestro Dawid Runtz. Other conductors he has worked with include Pier Giorgio Morandi, Ivo Lipanović, Srba Dinić, and Valentin Egel.

His opera repertoire includes roles such as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto), Alfredo (La Traviata), Ismaele (Nabucco), and Ruggero (La Rondine). Additionally, he has performed symphonic works such as Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Missa Solemnis, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Petite messe solennelle, and Verdi’s Requiem.
