Praised for his versatility, communicative approach and compelling musicianship, Wilson Ng is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most exciting conductors of his generation. A natural communicator, Wilson is dedicated to finding creative and innovative ways of engaging with audiences and is particularly gifted in his ability to transcend cultural borders.
Wilson’s 2026–27 season launched with a triumph when he stepped in on just four hours' notice to replace Edward Gardner with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Taking on a demanding program featuring Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5 and Errollyn Wallen’s Mighty River, he delivered a masterful performance that earned high praise from both the audience and the musicians. The rest of the upcoming season will see Wilson return to conduct the LPO, as well as the China NCPA Orchestra, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, and Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Ankara, while also further expanding his European presence with debuts with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Orkest Phion, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, and Orquesta de Córdoba.
Wilson has also appeared with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, China National Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Korean National Symphony Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, with whom he recorded alongside mandolinist Julien Martineau for Naïve Records. He has collaborated with artists such as Yunchan Lim, Bruce Liu, Vikingur Ólafsson, Viktoria Mullova, Esther Yoo, Clara-Jumi Kang, Danielle de Niese and Sumi Jo.
Born in Hong Kong and educated in Europe from a young age, Wilson is a prize winner of the Mahler Competition in Bamberg, the Sir Georg Solti Competition in Frankfurt and the Svetlanov Competition in Paris. He was the youngest ever Associate Conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Fellow Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and he was awarded the Edo de Waart Assistant Conductorship with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. Since 2023 he has served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Hankyung Arte Philharmonic.
A passionate advocate for Asian composers, Wilson founded the Asian Modern Symphony Orchestra in 2025. Bringing together outstanding musicians from across the continent to champion orchestral repertoire from the region, he led the ensemble on its inaugural summer tour across China and Korea. Since making his debut at the Beijing Modern Music Festival in 2019, he has frequently been invited to conduct the opening and closing concerts of the BMMF, the Thailand International Composition Festival and the Shanghai Contemporary Music Festival.
Deeply dedicated to education and audience development, he founded the Gustav Mahler Orchestra in Hong Kong in 2015, launching the innovative “Musicians without Borders” project, which invited audiences to experience performances seated among the orchestra musicians. The success of the idea brought the ensemble to perform at the New York Times fashion week. He also co-founded the “aboutMusic Foundation”, providing free international-level music education to underprivileged students in Hong Kong. Wilson currently serves on the Artistic Advisory Board of the School of Music at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
