Biography

The Spanish mezzosoprano Inés López is developing a promising international career, standing out for her stylistic and musical versatility. From the 2026/27 season, she will join the Opera Studio of the Hamburgische Staatsoper.

Among her recent engagements are Papagena in Die Zauberflöte at the Staatsoper Stuttgart and the role of Rabe in Der Mondbär at the Bayerische Staatsoper. Her repertoire also includes Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Der Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), Mercédès (Carmen), La Badessa (Suor Angelica), and the Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas), demonstrating a natural affinity for the Mozart and German repertoire.

She was a finalist at the 63rd Tenor Viñas Competition, where she received special prizes from the Ferrer Music Foundation, Barcelona Obertura, and the European Opera Center. Among other distinctions, she was awarded 2nd Prize and the New Talent Award at the “Ciudad de Albacete” National Singing Competition, the Zarzuela Prize at the “Ciudad de Logroño” International Competition, the AAESCM Prize at the “Lola Rodríguez Aragón” Competition, as well as 2nd Prize and the Zarzuela Prize at the “Alcalá de Henares” International Singing Competition. She was also a finalist at the “Alfredo Kraus” International Singing Competition.

In the symphonic field, she has performed Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España in the concert commemorating the 50th anniversary of the National Choir, and has performed works such as Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (Disinganno), Respighi’s Lauda per la Natività del Signore, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Vivaldi’s Gloria.

In the lied repertoire, she was a Life New Artist at the Festival Victoria de los Ángeles (2023) and was awarded the Lied the Future scholarship at the Schubertíada de Vilabertran (2024).

She graduated from the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid under the guidance of Virginia Prieto and Francisco Pérez-Sánchez and completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart with Marion Eckstein.
