Lucas Macías presents his first season as Chief Conductor of the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla

Following an acclaimed career as an international oboist and an ascending journey as a conductor, Macías now combines this new appointment with his ongoing roles as Chief Conductor of the Oviedo Filarmonía (since 2018) and Artistic Director of the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (since 2020), two ensembles with which he has led high-profile artistic projects with growing international reach.

The 2025–2026 season of the ROSS opens with Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection”, featuring mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo. Throughout the year, audiences in Seville will enjoy a rich and diverse repertoire, from 20th-century classics like Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue—performed by Wayne Marshall—to major works of the European symphonic tradition, such as Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 2 “Lobgesang” and Strauss’s Four Last Songs, interpreted by Chen Reiss, the orchestra’s Artist-in-Residence for the season.

The program also features special tributes to Maurice Ravel and Manuel de Falla, marking their 150th anniversaries, and showcases contemporary composers such as Francisco Coll, Raquel García Tomás, and Gabriela Ortiz.

Celebrated artists such as Lucas and Arthur JussenDaniel LozakovichJuan Pérez Floristán and Leonor Bonilla will perform with the orchestra under the baton of guest conductors including Marc Albrecht, Michel Plasson, Johanna Malangré, Shiyeon Sung, and György Ráth.
