Giancarlo Guerrero closed the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (OSG) subscription season with Anton Bruckner's monumental Symphony No. 8 on June 13 and 14 to great acclaim. Several reviews, as the one Alfredo López-Vivié writes for Mundoclasico, highlighted his performance with lines like these:
"[...]it was clear that Guerrero has this symphony in his head: his gestures are nervous but precise, he knows every detail and highlights them, his expressiveness is overwhelming, and the work in rehearsals proved effective because the orchestra—now led by guest conductor Pedro Rodríguez—obeyed exactly without the need for any on-the-fly corrections from the baton."
"The proof that everything went more than well came first from the audience, who endured a few seconds of silence imposed by Guerrero at the majestic conclusion of the work, before bursting into shouts of "Bravo!"; and then from the orchestra, which stamped their feet resoundingly for their maestro."
