Luis Toro Araya has been awarded with the second prize in the prestigious German Conducting Award 2025.
The German Conducting Award (GCA) is an international competition for young conductors organised by the German Music Council (Deutscher Musikrat) in partnership with the Cologne Philharmonic Concert Hall, the Cologne Opera, the Gürzenich Orchestra of Cologne, and the WDR Symphonic Orchestra.
Luis Toro Araya has been the conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción (Chile) since March 2025. This season he will also intensify his relationship with the Orquesta Nacional de España, where he held the position of Assistant Conductor until September 2024. In 2024 he successfully performed with ONE and Pablo Sáinz-Villegas at the La Rioja Festival. In 2023 he was also part of the Dudamel Fellowship of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
