Martín García García makes his debut at Ibermúsica with a recital dedicated to Chopin and Liszt
20th January 2026

Martín García García makes his debut in the Ibermúsica series with a solo recital dedicated to Chopin and Liszt. The event will take place at the National Auditorium on February 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Chopin will feature in the first part of the recital with Ballade Op. 38, Scherzo Op. 54 and Op. 39, Mazurkas Op. 63, and Ballade Op. 52. The ballads and scherzos combine epic momentum, drama, and high technical demands, while the mazurkas reflect the restrained and nostalgic lyricism with which Chopin brought Polish folk tradition to the concert hall. The Asturian musician has an in-depth knowledge of Chopin's work and approaches it with complete authority, backed by the medal he won at the International Chopin Piano Competition and the success of his album “Chopin and His Master” (2022).

Martín García García will continue the program with Liszt and his works La celda de Nonnenwerth, Legend S. 175 No. 2 “St. Francis of Paola Walking on the Waves” and finally the demanding and renowned Sonata in B minor, S. 178.

Ibermúsica is backing the acclaimed Spanish pianist after his successful tour of countries such as Korea, Japan, and Australia this season. Following his debut, his next visit to the Ibermúsica series will be on April 28 as a guest soloist with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales under the baton of Jaime Martín, performing Chopin's well-known Piano Concerto No. 1.
