Pianist Denis Kozhukhin concludes an outstanding 2025/26 season with the release of Haydn: Sonatas, his new album for PENTATONE, scheduled for full release on June 19. The recording features five piano sonatas by Joseph Haydn, showcasing the composer’s remarkable range, from profound introspection to wit, boldness, and playfulness.
The album follows a season marked by significant international engagements. Highlights include a European tour with the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Antonio Pappano, performing Leonard Bernstein’s The Age of Anxiety in some of Europe’s leading concert halls. Another major milestone was his residency at the Megaron in Athens, where he performed the complete works for piano and orchestra by Sergei Rachmaninoff, including the four piano concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
During the season, Kozhukhin also returned to Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and Lorenzo Viotti, while making notable debuts with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra under Gustavo Gimeno and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra alongside Jonathan Heyward.
In Spain, he appeared with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC), performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 under the baton of Stephanie Childress. His international schedule was further enriched by performances with the National Symphony Orchestra Taiwan and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, as well as recital appearances in Japan and South Korea.
