Great success for pianist Yeol Eum Son in Glasgow where she recently played Mozart Piano Concerto no. 21 in C major, K467 and no 24 in C minor, K491 with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra
Critics highlights:
"She is currently one of the world’s finest interpreters of the composer’s piano music [...]".
"Yeol Eum Son’s combination of exactness, energy and emotion rewarded the closest listening and demands the highest praise. The slow movements of both concertos are the best known (the early one famously used to soundtrack the film Elvira Madigan), and Son left plenty of room in them for the orchestra to play its part".
"The pianist’s articulacy is mesmerising but everything was immaculately measured, her opening statement in the later work a masterpiece of restraint, and the elegance of her phrasing instinctive".
"There seem to be fewer full stops in Son’s interpretation of Mozart’s musical language but the composer’s paragraphs are delineated with passion and decisive precision. Masterly stuff".
