Wilson Ng returned to the London Philharmonic Orchestra yesterday at Saffron Hall, stepping in at very short notice for its Principal Conductor, Ed Gardner, who had to withdraw due to indisposition.
Ng conducted a demanding programme culminating in Sibelius’s Fifth Symphony, alongside Errollyn Wallen’s Mighty River and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with Clara-Jumi Kang as soloist. At the end of the concert, he received an ovation from both the audience and the Orchestra’s musicians.
Following his tenure as Fellow Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra during the 2025/26 season, Wilson Ng made his debut with the Orchestra in February 2026, in a programme with soprano Danielle de Niese, and has been reinvited to conduct the LPO in January 2027.
