Biography

Sabrina Gárdez is a constantly evolving soprano who has demonstrated her ability to captivate audiences with her exceptional artistry. Born in La Habana, she completed her singing studies at the Liceu Conservatoire in Barcelona. She has received masterclasses from Erika Grimaldi, Nelly Miricioiu, Juan Diego Flórez, Sonia Ganassi, Luciana Serra, Ernesto Palacio, Giulio Zappa, Giulio Laguzzi, Stanislav Angelov Hana Lee.

Her 2024-2025 season will be filled with exciting engagements. She will debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the role of Lisa in Bellini’s La sonnambula, she will also make her debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville with Gluck’s opera Iphigénie en Tauride. In December 2024, she will embark on a tour around Spain, performing at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Ibermúsica season at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Auditorio de Zaragoza and the ADDA Auditorium in Alicante, performing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with ADDA Simfònica and the Orfeón Donostiarra. She will also debut the role of Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème at the Fundació Òpera de Catalunya.

In 2022, she was awarded the First Prize and the Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell Prize at the 5th Josep Palet Singing Contest in Martorell, as well as receiving a prize at the 5th Martín y Soler International Singing Competition.

In 2023, she attended the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, where she performed the role of Madama Cortese in Gioachino Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, produced by Emilio Sagi. The same year, the soprano participated in the Bottega d’Opera at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo, singing in the opening performance of Donizetti’s Il diluvio universale, conducted by maestro Riccardo Frizza, and in the opera Il piccolo compositore di musica by Giovanni Simone Mayr.

During the 2023-2024 season, Gárdez debuted in the ADDA season in Alicante, playing the role of Carmela in Manuel de Falla’s La vida breve. She participated in the Musika-Música Festival in Bilbao, performing the complete set of chamber songs by Giacomo Puccini and she also went on a recital tour across Spain with Juventudes Musicales de España and Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya, and gave a zarzuela recital at the Palacio de la Audiencia in Soria with the city’s band. Additionally, she returned to the Donizetti Festival to participate in the 10th Donizetti Revolution. In the summer of 2024, she was invited again to the Rossini Festival in Pesaro to collaborate in several recitals.

Sabrina Gárdez alternates her passion for opera with recitals and performing chamber music. She has been invited by the Gran Teatre del Liceu to give a private recital for the theater’s benefactors. She has performed in emblematic venues such as the Círculo del Liceo in Barcelona, the Círculo Ecuestre in Barcelona, and the Reial Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi. Gárdez has also participated in the concert series Les Veus del Monestir at the Monestir de Pedralbes (Barcelona) and in the concert season at the Casa Elizalde in Barcelona.
