Argentinian/Italian tenor Santiago Ballerini is recognized as one of the leading tenors in the Bel Canto repertoire, having performed at many of the major venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus, Kennedy Center, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Canadian Opera Company, Arena di Verona, Teatro Regio di Torino, Opéra national de Bordeaux, Teatro Real, Gran Teatre del Liceu, and more.
In the 2025/26 season, Santiago Ballerini will make his debut at the Royal Danish Opera performing the role of Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, in Mariame Clément’s stage production. The season will continue with more music by Donizetti and his debut at the Donizetti Opera Festival in Bergamo, where he will take part in the revival of Il furioso nell’isola di Santo Domingo, presented in a new production by Manuel Renga.
During the same season, Ballerini will also explore two major operas inspired by the works of Beaumarchais. On one hand, he will return to one of his signature roles: Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, with which he will make his debut at the Opéra de Marseille in a production by Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau. On the other hand, he will perform for the first time the concert version of Paisiello’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, alongside the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada conducted by Lucas Macías, at the Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada and the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
Ballerini will also return to the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona to sing the role of Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff. Additionally, he will play the lead role in the contemporary zarzuela El orgullo de quererte by Javier Carmena, in a new staging by Albert Boadella and under the musical direction of Alondra de la Parra, at the Teatros del Canal in Madrid.
The 2024/25 season has been marked by his debut in venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, and the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo. In addition, Ballerini returned to the Atlanta Opera as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, performed in the commemorative concert for the 500th anniversary of Granada Cathedral with Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and made his debut at the Spoleto Festival in Rufus Wainwright’s opera Hadrian, among other engagements.
