Conductor Julia Cruz joins Ibermusica Artists for General Management

Julia Cruz is one of the most dynamic, communicative, and committed conductors of her generation, forging strong connections with symphony orchestras, opera houses, and audiences alike.

During the 2025–2026 season, she will return to the Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México and the Oviedo Filarmonía, and will make her debuts with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, and the Orquesta de Córdoba. In the operatic field, she will lead the premiere of Piccolo Orso e la montagna di ghiaccio, the new opera by Giovanni Sollima which will be performed on tour in Italy and Spain.

Conducting Fellow at the Lucerne Festival 2025, Taki Alsop Conducting Fellow since 2022 and second prize at the Blue Danube / Béla Bartok opera Conducting Competition in 2021, in recent seasons Julia Cruz has conducted the Orquesta Nacional de España, Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, and Orquesta de Extremadura.

Her wide-ranging repertoire spans from Verdi’s La Traviata, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and Falla’s La vida breve, as well as the ballet The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. She has also led the Mexican premiere of Ginastera's Beatrix Cenci and the world premiere of the ballet Ciudad Delirio by Marcela Rodríguez.

Cruz also conducted at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Ópera de Colombia, Compañía Nacional de Ópera de México, Òpera de Terrassa, Hungarian Opera Cluj-Napoca, State Opera Stara Zagora, and the Ballet Nacional de México.
