Álvaro Lozano has emerged as one of the most promising cellists of his generation after capturing international attention from both the public and critics at the prestigious 2026 Queen Elisabeth Cello Competition, where he was awarded Fourth Prize and the RTBF Audience Prize. His success in Brussels has given significant momentum to his career, with critics praising his “ideal blend of inspiration and mastery” and his “fascinating elemental force and interpretative flair”.
Lozano has already appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Belgian National Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Kölner Kammerorchester, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie and Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, working with conductors such as Anthony Hermus, Christoph Poppen and Shiyeon Sung.
His career has also taken him to venues including BOZAR in Brussels, Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Kölner Philharmonie, Concertgebouw Brugge, Koningin Elisabethzaal in Antwerp and Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, as well as festivals and concert series including Musiq3, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad and Festival Internacional de Santander.
Álvaro Lozano currently plays a 1716 Cristofori cello on loan from the Stretton Society.
