A resounding success for Martín García García
5th February 2026

Martín García García's solo debut in the Ibermúsica series, held on February 3 at the National Music Auditorium, was a resounding success. The Asturian pianist took the Madrid series by storm with a recital devoted entirely to Chopin and Liszt, which ended with long standing ovations and four encores by the soloist.

The first part of the concert was dedicated to Frédéric Chopin, a program with which García García once again demonstrated his mastery and affinity for the Polish composer's music, qualities that a few years ago led him to the podium of the prestigious International Chopin Competition, where he was the only Spaniard to win a medal in the contest. The program included Ballades Nos. 2 and 4, Scherzos Nos. 3 and 4, and Mazurkas Op. 63.

In the second part, the pianist tackled the universe of Franz Liszt with La celda de Nonnenwerth, Legend S. 175 No. 2 “St. Francis of Paola Walking on the Waves,” and the monumental Sonata in B minor, S. 178, one of the most demanding works in the piano repertoire, of which García García offered a historic performance that brought 2,000 spectators to their feet.
